Artisans in Lebanon are facing major challenges in sourcing raw materials needed for their crafts. These challenges are for the most part financial, caused by the devaluation of the local currency and the fact that raw materials are purchased in US dollar.
Mashghal Initiative is using the budget provided by the Lebanon Solidarity Fund in launching the Endowment Fund phase of support which offers grants to local artisans to purchase raw materials needed for their crafts.
By means of the Endowment Fund artisans will be committed to produce new works that will later be offered for sale to local and international buyers on the Mashghal Online Store.
The visibility created by means of the Online Store is expected to generate income for the artisans in USD. As a result, this will finance more raw material purchases and create continuity for the artisan's crafts.
